One person hospitalized with serious third degree burns after fire in Goleta

One person was hospitalized with serious third degree burns after an explosion in an apartment in Goleta Monday night.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department says the call came in around 7;15 p.m. Monday.

It happened in a two-story, eight-unit apartment complex in the 400 block of Ellwood Beach Drive.

Firefighters say there was a flash fire and an explosion, which blew out the windows from the apartment.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the fire was smoldering and almost out. They put out what was left of the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

There were no other injuries.
