Fire investigators are trying to figure out what sparked flames at an apartment complex in Goleta Wednesday.
The fire started just before 9a.m. in a unit at 29 Dearborn Place.
The Santa Barbara County Fire Department say heavy smoke was showing from the first floor of the two-story building, but no one was inside.
The apartments next door were evacuated.
Flames gutted the living room in one unit and caused heavy smoke and heat damage throughout.
