St. Joseph High quarterback Curry Parham and Orcutt Academy doubles partners Maddie Ortiz and Maddie Seeds were named Athletes of the Week on Monday by the Santa Barbara County Athletic Roundtable.
Parham threw for 249 yards and 3 touchdowns, as well as rushed for 59 yards and another touchdown in the Knights' 51-28 win against West last Friday.
The junior has been instrumental all year in the Knights' turnaround from worst to first in the Pac 7 League. St. Joseph finished the regular season 5-1 in league and co-Pac 7 champions with an 8-2 overall record.
"We had a pretty good year so far. A good improvement from last year. I think we just stuck together from the beginning and decided we weren't going to bow down to anyone," said Parham.
The Knights host West Torrance in a first round playoff game on Friday night.
Ortiz and Seeds were the Female Athletes of the Week. The two did not attend the luncheon because they had a CIF quarterfinal match in the afternoon.
The two won all five of their sets last week in two CIF playoff matches to help the Spartans advance to the quarterfinals for the second year in a row.
