A class of local 5th and 6th graders are making a difference in our local marine life thanks to the SLO Dental and KSBY One Class at a Time Grant.
KSBY News and SLO Dental surprised Jim McManus' science class at Ralph Dunlap School in Orcutt Thursday with $250. The students are raising rainbow trout in their class room.
The class plans to release the trout into Lopez Lake in June, so the grant money will help pay fees from the Department of Fish and Game.
"It's about $200 to get the permit from the state and to get the eggs. It's a really big help and it's a wonderful thing for all of our kids who rotate through here, we have over 100 kids that are affected by this program." said Jim McManus.
