With unemployment numbers hovering around nine percent along the Central Coast, a local organization is trying to give women the tools they need to start their own business. Women's Economic Ventures, or WEV, is a 14 week, self employment training program. It teaches important aspects of financing, marketing, and managing a small business. Organizers say more than 1,000 businesses in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties and owned and operated by WEV graduates.
