Oscar Pistorius' brother enters not guilty plea in road death

VANDERBIJLPARK, South Africa (AP) - The brother of track star Oscar Pistorius has entered a plea of not guilty in a South African court today in the death of a female motorcyclist in a road collision in 2008.

Carl Pistorius is charged with culpable homicide or negligent killing. He also pleaded not guilty to two alternative charges of reckless driving.

He's the older brother of double-amputee Olympian Oscar Pistorius, who himself is facing a murder charge in a separate case. Oscar Pistorius is accused in the shooting death of his girlfriend last month. He wasn't in court today for his brother's trial -- and in fact hasn't been seen in public since he was granted bail five weeks ago.

Prosecutors say Carl Pistorius was driving an SUV in March of 2008 when he collided with a female motorcyclist. The woman died in a hospital six days later.

Defense lawyers say their case will be based in part on their assertion that the woman was intoxicated at the time of the accident, and that she was the one driving recklessly.
