Part of the Oceano Dunes Vehicular Recreation Area will be closed the next two days, and it is expected to make a positive impact on the environment.
Oso Flaco Lake Natural Area will be closed Thursday and Friday due to a scheduled controlled burn.
The burn will help remove a non-native European Beach Grass that grows within a 158-acre area.
Its removal will help native plants grow naturally in the dunes.
"It was brought in to keep sand in place and it is remarkably effective at keeping sand in place, but it's just ecologically very damaging," said Ronnie Glick of the San Luis Obispo County's Department of Parks and Recreation.
The California State Park burn crew, and the California Department of Forestry will conduct the burn. They have been attempting to conduct the burn for two years.
