Out and About: JT's pick of the week

It's going to be a rainy weekend so it's a great time to catch some indoor entertainment if you're hankering to get "Out and About." That's why my pick of the week is the series of productions happening in the Five Cities Area to commemorate "V-Day". It's a nationwide effort to raise money and awareness to end violence against women and girls.

Tomorrow night, there's a benefit reading Benefit reading of "A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer." The show starts at 8 p.m. at The Spot at 116 W. Branch St. in Arroyo Grande. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by clicking here.

On Sunday afternoon, March 2nd, you can catch a performance of Emotional Creature. It's also at The Spot, 116 W. Branch St. in Arroyo Grande. The show starts at 4 p.m. The performance comes from the same women who shattered taboos with The Vagina Monologues. Eve Ensler's new play empowers the Emotional Creature within every human being. The actors aim to share the heartbreak and thrills of being a young, alive, Emotional Creature. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.

On Saturday and Sunday at The Spot, there are performances The Vagina Monologues. It's a full of humor and written to celebrate women's sexuality and strength. Shows are Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 8pm and Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 8pm. Tickets are $12, and can be purchased by clicking here.

V-Day is a global movement to end violence against women and girls that raises funds
and awareness through benefit productions of Playwright/Founder Eve Ensler's artistic works. The V-Day movement has raised more than $100 million since it started, and funded more than 13,000 community-based anti-violence programs and safe houses in Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Kenya, and Iraq.
