Owl hit by big rig near Los Alamos lives to tell

It isn't often that the California Highway Patrol gets to report some good news, so it was especially excited to share this story with KSBY.

A truck driver was traveling on Hwy. 135 near Los Alamos last month when he hit a Great Horned Owl. He alerted the CHP, who carefully removed the bird.

Aside from some bruising and soreness, it suffered no broken bones, and was just recently released into a nature preserve.

The CHP says this owl is particularly grumpy, but otherwise, is doing just fine.
