The heartbreak can end just in time for Valentine's day. At least when it comes to the Fremont Theatre in downtown San Luis Obispo and its fans. After managers of the iconic theatre announced its sudden closure almost two weeks ago, the owners of the movie house told KSBY it will re-open for movie viewing pleasure this Thursday, Valentine's Day.

Rob Rossi and John King own the theatre and said the issues that led to the temporary closing of the theater have been worked out with the tenant, Orange County-based theater management firm, The Movie Experience.

"To all who love and admire our treasured Fremont Theatre, the earlier announcements of its demise were both premature and inaccurate," said Rossi. "We and The Movie Experience continue to work together extending the movie arrangement and helping the vitality of this unique landmark."

Rossi said that in addition to first-run movies, the Fremont will continue to feature live musical acts similar to those that have performed there in the past such as Los Lobos, Lindsey Buckingham, Taj Mahal, Graham Nash and David Crosby. It also plays host to special events like showings for San Luis Obispo's International Film Festival.

The Fremont Theatre has been part of San Luis Obispo history for more than 70 years.
