There is some encouraging news Wednesday about Adrian Padilla, the Oxnard High football player injured in last Friday's game at San Luis Obispo High. A spokesperson at Sierra Vista Hospital says Padilla has been upgraded from critical to serious condition.

About fifty people, many of them San Luis Obispo High football players and their parents, held a prayer vigil at Sierra Vista Monday night. Padilla suffered a serious head injury in last Friday's game. Witnesses said Padilla walked off the field, but collapsed on the sidelines. He underwent emergency brain surgery over the weekend.

An account has been set up to help the Padilla family in its time of need. You can make a donation at any Santa Barbara Bank and Trust branch under the team "Adrian Padilla Benefit Account."
