Pac 7 Boys Basketball: Willkomm, Midyett lead Eagles by Knights

Matt Willkomm and Andrew Midyett combined to score 41 points, while Midyett, Brennan Rivera and Dylan Brigham shined on defense in the Eagles' 60-48 win at St. Joseph on Wednesday night.

The Arroyo Grande boys basketball team improved to 4-3 in Pac 7 action and 15-6 overall. The Knights dropped to 5-2 in league and 15-5 on the year.

Willkomm led the Eagles with 24 points on 9 for 10 shooting from the free throw line and three 3-point buckets. The senior added 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Midyett tallied 17 points and 7 rebounds for the Eagles, who lost to the Knights earlier in the season.

The Knights were led by Keith Datu, who finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Case Bruton, who came in averaging 22 points per game, was held to 13 points. Curry Parham added 9 points and 5 blocked shots.

The big difference in the game was AG was 14 for 19 from the free throw line, while the Knights were 10 for 23.

The Eagles, who are the reigning Pac 7 champions, hosts first place and undefeated Righetti Friday.

The Warriors remained perfect in league with a 55-43 win over visiting Paso Robles.

Senior Landon Brown, who joined the program this season, led the Warriors with 17 points. Sophomore sensation Cameron Walker, who just received his sixth offer recently from Oregon State, added 15 points. Righetti led 28-21 at the half and stayed ahead the rest of the way.

Rudy Binkele and Jaylon Davis had 9 points each for the Bearcats.

Righetti is now 7-0 in league and 11-9 for the year. The Bearcats fell to 1-6 in league games and 5-15 overall.

San Luis Obispo snapped a five game losing streak in league play with a 59-46 win at Pioneer Valley. David Thoreson led the Tigers with 20 points and Kwab Farkye added 13 points. Andrew Madrigal led PV with 15, while Drew Johnson finished with 10.

The Tigers are now 2-5 in league and 7-13 for the year. Both of SLO's league wins have come against PV. The Panthers fell to 1-6 in league and 3-15 overall.

The Tigers play at Atascadero Friday, while PV battles Paso Robles.
