The Righetti boys basketball team kept its PAC-7 League title hopes alive on Wednesday with a convincing 75-52 win over visiting San Luis Obispo.
Hunter Walker, one of several seniors honored on senior night before the game, led the Warriors with 21 points. Righetti improved to 9-2 in league and 20-4 overall. The Warriors, who've won 3 of the previous 5 league titles, can claim a share of the title with a win and some outside help on Friday.
Idle Arroyo Grande already clinched a piece of its first league title since 2001 earlier this week. The Eagles are 10-1 in league and host St. Joseph Friday night. The Warriors need to win at Paso Robles and have their rival Knights beat AG to force a two-way tie for first.
The St. Joseph boys improved to 6-5 in league play and 16-10 overall with an 81-65 win over Paso Robles. Case Bruton led the Knights with 20 points.
Atascadero clinched third place in the league standings and a playoff berth with an 88-59 win over Pioneer Valley. Thirteen different players scored for Atascadero led by Logan Sprouse's 14 points and Hayden Mislavsky's 12. The Greyhounds, who are the defending league champions, finished league play with a 7-5 league record and 16-9 overall mark.
On the girls side, Mariah Cooks poured in 27 points to lead the Righetti girls to a 52-29 win at San Luis Obispo. The Warriors improved to 6-5 in league, while the Tigers fell to 2-9 in league despite 12 points from Erica Chandler.
The St. Joseph girls beat visiting Paso Robles 48-.37 to seal a third place finish in league. The Knights improved to 7-4 in league play thanks to 22 points from junior Tatiana Dunlap. Paso Robles fell to 2-9 in league play.
