The Santa Maria Valley Packers scored a walk-off 7-6 win over the San Luis Obispo Rattlers at Allan Hancock College on Wednesday. The Packers evened the summer series with the Rattlers at two games apiece.
Mike Foley hit a two-run double in the second inning to give the Packers a 2-1 lead. He scored a short time later to give the home team a 3-1 lead.
Marc Flores, the Rattlers' slugger who is headed to the University of Hawaii, tied it up with a 2-run home run to left-center field in the third inning.
The Rattlers carried a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the fourth inning when Ryan Bendele doubled down the left-field line to tie the score at 4. Foley tried to score from first base on the play but was thrown out at the plate.
The Rat-pack trailed 6-4 into the top of the ninth inning, but Trevor Nathanson clubbed a game-tying two-run home run over the leftfield wall to tie it at 6-6.
The Rattlers, who've dropped two in a row after a six game winning streak, dropped to 8-4 overall. They host a Fresno team in Sinsheimer Stadium Thursday at 6pm.
