A county parks employee found a panga boat at 5:18 a.m. Friday on the shore at Goleta Beach.

The abandoned panga boat was about 30 feet long and had about a dozen lifejackets and more than 15 containers of fuel on board.

There were signs of food and clothing in the boat but no drugs. No arrests have been made in connection with the boat, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies from the Sheriff's Office conducted the initial investigation; the case has now been turned over to the Department of Homeland Security.

This is the first panga boat found in Santa Barbara County this year. Last year more than 20 incidents involving panga boats were reported in Santa Barbara County.
