A panga found early Sunday morning near Cambria is the first boat to land on the Central Coast that the sheriff's office does not believe carried any drugs, officials say.
A spokesman for the sheriff's office says, due to items found near the boat, including water bottles, sunscreen, sea sickness medication, and more life jackets than normal, they believe the boat was only carrying people because it did not have storage space to transport drugs.
Officials say around 12 pangas have landed on the Central Coast since May 2012, but officials say this is the first that indicates no drugs were being transported.
The boat was turned over to Homeland Security Sunday evening.
No arrests have been made.
