Two parents arrested for torturing and abusing their two-year-old daughter plead not guilty this morning in a Santa Maria courtroom.

Investigators say Lorena Arenas, 23, held her daughter under scalding water for five minutes back in April. They also say the girl's father, 41-year-old Jose Gonzalez, let the child cry and scream for eleven hours before taking her to the hospital. The girl suffered third degree burns.

A tentative trial date has been set for March 18.
