Caltrans says Highway 1 at Alder Creek in Monterey County will be shut down for at least a month after a new mudslide last night.
That now means there are two long-term closures on the roadway, including another closure at Rocky Point. Crews say last night's mudslide at Alder Creek is much worse than another one that happened in the same area back on March 27th.
But good news for the Rocky Point closure. Caltrans says that area of Highway 1 will be open to all traffic beginning at 5:00p.m. Saturday, until 8:00a.m. Sunday. From then on, the road will be open to traffic from 8:00p.m. to 8:00a.m.
