Paso Robles High School now a heart safe school

Paso Robles High School has installed three new automated external deliberations, or AED's. The AED's make Paso Robles High School a heart safe school. Without medical assistance, fewer than 5 percent of people who suffer a heart attack will survive. AED's bring the survival rate up to 90 percent. Mary Winokur's son died of cardiac arrest and now she teaches classes on how to save others. "I never ever thought it would grow this big. I never dreamed it would be in such high demand, and luckily we've been able to train other instructors who volunteer for us now," Winokur said. More than 400,000 people die from cardiac arrest each year and about 14,000 of them are under the age of 18.
