Paso Robles native Chaunte Lowe easily advanced to the women's high jump final on Thursday in London.

The 28 year old cleared four heights in the qualifying round on first attempts. She was one of 14 women to clear 6 feet, 4 inches. Twelve women advanced to Saturday's final.

Lowe, a three-time Olympian, owns the American record at 6-8.75. She won the US Olympic Trials by clearing 6-7 to secure her fifth-career US outdoor title.

Lowe finished sixth at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She is looking to become the first American woman to medal in the high jump since 1988.

The final is on Saturday at 11am California time.
