Paso Robles resident ready for Olympics

PASO ROBLES, Calif. - A Central Coast native is representing Team USA at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

Paso Robles resident Trevor Jacob pulled one of the biggest surprises of the qualifying season, winning a World Cup snowboardcross event in mid-January and qualifying to compete for Team USA

"I've always wanted to see how I could compete against everyone," said Jacob, "and last season I came up with the idea and I made it a reality and here we are."

At just 20 years of age, Jacob is the youngest member of Team USA's Snowboard Cross squad.

"I'm having a blast and never really expected this to happen, but I'm excited."

The Men's Snowboard Cross competition begins in Sochi on Monday, February 17th.
