KSBY News has obtained an internal email sent to district employees stating that the Paso Robles teachers union has voted "no confidence" in Superintendent Kathleen McNamara.

According to that email, a total of 77 percent of voters turned out and of that turnout 97 percent of the teachers voted "no confidence" in Dr. McNamara, during a union meeting. The union will formally present the results to the Board of Trustees at their study session meeting this Thursday, February 5. The meeting is set to start at 5:00 p.m.

In the email the Paso Robles Public Educators Union says it plans to hold a formal press conference in front of the district office before the meeting.

According to the union's website it is urging supporters to attending the meeting "to let the board know that our students should be allowed a full school year in 2013-2014."

All week the Paso Robles Joint Unified School District has been holding series of town hall meetings to discuss its financial situation. Last year, schools were forced to start furlough days after budget cuts.

At Wednesday's meeting, school district administrators talked about reducing furlough days and balancing the budget, but some teachers say the money from Proposition 30 should be enough to end furloughs.

"We have looked at the books, they have the money, they have the money for this year, they have the money for next year," said Robert Skinner, a teacher in the Paso Robles District.

"The funding is still not robust enough for us to completely reduce all furlough days or we'll be back in the same place we were," said Kathy McNamara, Superintendent of the Paso Robles Public School System.

Three more meetings are scheduled through Monday.

There is one on Friday at Virginia Peterson Elementary School and one Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the district office board room.

The PRPE is set to formally announce it's confidence-noconfidence vote on Tuesday at 4:45 p.m. prior to the meeting.
