Thanks to a local toy bank and thousands of donations more than 600 struggling families will be getting Christmas presents under the tree this year.
The Paso Roles Toy Bank and Salvation Army passed out toys, clothes, food and school supplies to parents in need Saturday. Despite the increase in people who signed up for help organizers say everyone was able to take something home to their family.
"We've had parents that have never really been without," said Gary Nemeth, vice president of the Paso Robles Toy Bank. "They've been without a job, both parents unfortunately have lost their jobs, they're trying to keep a roof over their head."
Organizers say thanks to the community outpouring, more than 1700 kids will get gifts this year.
