One of Paso Robles' most unique food and wine events is fast approaching. The 14th annual Winemakers' Cook-off is Saturday, August 11th at River Oaks Hot Springs from 6-9pm.
This is classic Paso Wine culture with a casual outdoor evening of food, wine, music, crazy antics and fun. And on top of that, it raises money for Paso Robles high-schoolers who are great in school, but couldn't go to college without a little help.
It's all about barbecue at this wine event. 27 of the appellation's finest winemakers pair their own grilled culinary creations with some of their best wines competing for Judges' and People's Choice awards. And the competition for the people's choice award can get a bit crazy. (You can score in the final minutes as winemakers will pull out all the stops to take home the honors, including pulling out old vintages, handing out cigars and bottles of wine, and more.)
Tickets are $75 per person, $650 or a reserved table of 8, and $40 for Designated Drivers. All Cook-off proceeds go to the Rotary's Harlow Ford Scholarship Foundation benefiting local high school seniors. Since its inception, the Foundation has provided over $400,000 in scholarships.
