Paws Cause aims to curb cat over-population

If you've ever seen a feral cat, you know, they're not exactly looking to be held.
But, a group of very dedicated volunteers are rounding up as many feral, stray and abandoned cats as they can in Northern San Luis Obispo County, for this Sunday's Spay Day.
The non-profit group, Paws Cause, is organizing the event in Paso Robles.
A team of volunteers and veterinarians will spay and neuter about 70 cats in one day.
After recovery, the cats will be returned to their colonies.
This week, Paws Cause volunteers have been setting traps around North County... where they say, estimates of stray cats range in the tens of thousands.
"We've seen it so often, the moms really struggle to feed their babies, and really give up their whole body to feed the babies. We find them thin, taken by coyotes, and find the mothers emaciated and it's really heartbreaking, not just for the cats, but for the people who care about them," said Cathy Enns, Paws Cause Executive Director.
It costs about $25 dollars to spay or neuter each cat.
The group survives on volunteer donations, including veterinarians Dr. Tim Bell, Dr. Ann Stacker, Dr. David Edsall and Dr. Renee Leton, who are donating their time and facilities.
