VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man has been killed after getting hit by several vehicles while apparently trying to cross a busy freeway in Northern California.
The California Highway Patrol says the man was struck as he tried crossing Interstate 80 just east of the Carquinez Bridge Toll Plaza in Vallejo shortly after midnight Sunday.
The CHP says the pedestrian who was dressed in dark clothing and carrying a cane, was crossing in front of traffic from the north side of the freeway to the south side when he was hit.
Authorities say a man who was driving a Toyota Prius saw the pedestrian at the last second when he hit him. The pedestrian was then hit by several more vehicles.
The name of the pedestrian has not yet been released.
