Some people in Santa Maria will be putting the rain to good use.
The City of Santa Maria teamed up with the County of Santa Barbara to sell rain barrels Saturday.
The 55-gallon barrels cost just $50.
The water they collect can be used for irrigation, which can cut your water bills by 40 percent and reduce storm water pollution.
One Orcutt resident said the deal was too good to pass up.
"I just had rain gutters put on my house so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to have the water that we could use for the indoor plants and that kind of thing," said Todd Heaney.
Saturday's event is also part of the city's water conservation program.
