It's been a community effort that may end in the biggest public park in Pismo Beach.
This past weekend the folks behind the Pismo Preserve Project held a Jazz and Blues Benefit at Dinosaur Caves Park and added another $25,000 to their bottom line.
The group is trying to preserve an area on the east side of the freeway for open space. If supporters can raise the 12-million dollars to make it happen, the Preserve will have 10 miles of ocean view hiking, biking, and horseback trails. It will also permanently protect sensitive habitats and endangered species.
Right now they need to raise about $475-thousand more dollars by the end of July to purchase the property.
