You may want to check your pantry.
Two pistachio brands have been recalled due to possible salmonella contamination. The FDA has issued its first voluntary recall for Treasured Harvest Pistachios. The nuts are owned by Los Angeles based Western Mixers Produce and Nut Company.
The nuts were distributed in four states; Nevada, Ohio, Utah, and here in California between October 17, 2012 and May 28, 2013.
These pistachios were sold in 6oz clear plastic cups, 12oz clear bags, 28oz clear plastic trays, 5 pound green bags, and 5 pound boxes.
The second recall is for pistachios out of another Los Angeles based company, Tom and Glasser. They were sold under the Tom and Glasser label, Sprouts, Hilo, and Sun Harvest labels.
They were sold from February 2012 to April 2013 in California, Arizona, and Hawaii. These bags have a lot code, 0923, that can be found on the back corner next to the seal.
Customers who have purchased the nuts are advised not to eat them. They can return them for a full refund.
