Santa Barbara police said a pizza restaurant employee was injured when an oven exploded when he tried to light a pilot light about 10:30 Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Riley Harwood said the 38-year-old man was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries. The explosion at Giovanni's Pizza, 1187 Coast Village Road,Montecito,caused the man to be blown backward and also caused a fire.
There was no damage to neighboring buildings. Sgt. Harwood said OSHA will investigate the explosion.
