It sounded like thunder over the Santa Maria Valley on Friday as aircraft in all shapes and sizes flew into the city for the 23rd annual air show.
The Santa Maria Museum of Flight will present the show on Saturday and Sunday on the southwest side of the Santa Maria Airport.
On Friday the public is invited to watch aircraft arrive throughout the day and on Friday evening beginning at 6:00p.m. the public is invited to a barbecue cook off with live music.
On Saturday, festivities kick-off with an opening ceremony at 10:00a.m. and the air show continues until 4:00p.m. Flight operation will be in full swing at the show with a variety of military aircraft from F-18's to Huey's Cobra, Spitfires and P-51's.
On Saturday night, a Military and Veteran Appreciation dinner will be held beginning at 6:00p.m.
On Sunday the air show opens at 10:30a.m and continues until 4:00p.m.
