The key to keeping off those extra holiday pounds could be in the color of your plate.
A new study finds people tend to eat or use less of things when they're sitting on the color red.
Italian researchers tested how much food or hand cream a group of people took when the products were placed on a red, white or blue plate. On average, the participants consumed less food when they ate off a red plate compared to a blue or white plate. They also used about half as much hand cream when it was on the color red.
This study was led by researchers at University of Parma and published in the journal 'Appetite.'
