Plenty of sunshine for the Central Coast, but some morning fog lingers

Some lingering fog Sunday morning, but it ended up being a sunny day. Monday should be similar with early fog in the coastal regions and then plenty of sunshine. Temperatures are expected to be above normal until Tuesday then cooling through the work week.
Monday's temperatures should be in the 60s and 70s. Beaches should be in the mid 60s with overnight lows in the 40s. Coastal valleys should be in the high 60s with lows in the 40s. Interior valleys will be a little warmer, the low 70s with overnight lows in the mid 30s.
A low pressure system will bring a chance of rain to the area Thursday night into Friday. Strong northwesterly winds are in the forecast beginning Tuesday night.
A high surf advisory remains in effect until 10:00 p.m. Monday. West to northwest facing beaches will see the highest surf. Waves could be 9 to 13 feet with some sets up to 17 feet.
The National Weather Service said Sunday, due to the high surf dangerous rip currents will pose a threat to swimmers and surfers. In addition sneaker waves can suddenly inundate beaches and wash over jetties. If caught in a rip current do not try to swim against the current instead swim across the current.
