Pockets of intense rain overnight through Saturday

The rain that began this evening is expected to intensify overnight with a slight chance of thunderstorms after midnight. Lows will be in the upper 30s and 40s with south winds around 15 mph.

Saturday, the rain continues for most of the day with a slight chance of thunderstorms. Highs will be in the 50s with west to northwest winds at 15 to 30 mph with gusting up to 40 mph in the afternoon.

A vigorous cold front will sweep through the area this weekend brining at least an inch of rain with snow for the mountains and gusty winds. A moist and unstable air mass will affect the area between Saturday and Sunday with showers lingering across much of the region.

A slight chance of thunderstorms with the possibility of small hail can be expected Saturday and Saturday night. There's a chance of showers and cool weather over the area through Monday. Then, high pressure will bring dry and milder conditions to the area Tuesday through late in the week.
