LODI, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say the death toll from a deadly Central California car crash has grown to five people.
Among the dead in Tuesday's crash in Lodi are a man in his 30s, a woman who was about seven months pregnant, and three children aged 5 to 12.
Lodi police Lt. Sierra Brucia said they were all passengers inside an extended cab pickup truck that was struck in the middle of a busy intersection. A 9-year-old boy who also was inside the truck is in critical condition.
The San Joaquin County coroner is working with the Mexican Consulate to contact family members.
Six vehicles were involved. While there were reports of a speeding vehicle prior to the collision, Brucia said it could take months to unravel the circumstances around the crash.
