During the recent jury trial of Santa Maria gang member Jesus Quevado, Diana Perez Escobedo was called to the stand as a defense witness and testified on behalf of him.

During her sworn testimony from the stand, Police say Escobedo made untruthful statements.

After the trial a perjury investigation was initiated by Santa Maria Police Detectives.

Detectives say the investigation revealed evidence that she intentionally made false statements during her testimony.

On Thursday Escobedo was arrested for perjury.

She was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail with a bail set at $25,000.
