San Luis Obispo Police have a suspect in custody in connection with a series of attacks on women in the downtown area Thursday.
Police say the suspect was in court Friday for a separate case and was taken into custody as part of that case.
Police identified the suspect by showing a witness a photo lineup. Officers then determined the man was already in custody.
Police say one of the women was punched in the face around 11 a.m. Thursday. Investigators say a short time later, a man spit on two other women in separate locations. Those women had babies with them. Police say none of the attacks was provoked.
Investigators say they believe the same person is responsible for all three attacks, but they still need to confirm that by talking to witnesses. They are not releasing the suspect's name in order to protect their investigation.
