SEASIDE, Calif. (AP) - Police say the Monterey County woman arrested on suspicion of killing her infant told investigators the child's body was buried behind her home.
Thirty-nine-year-old Jennifer Cecilia Warren of Seaside was taken into custody on Friday. Seaside police Commander Judy Stradan says she came to the police station that day to report suspicious activity in her neighborhood, and disclosed the infant's remains during the course of that discussion.
Stradan told The Associated Press on Monday she then took police to the home, where investigators found the baby's decomposed remains in a plastic container in a crawl space. According to Stradan, Warren told investigators the incident occurred a couple of years earlier.
An autopsy is planned to determine the cause of death.
Stradan did not know whether Warren had secured an attorney.
