SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man was arrested at an Orange County freeway checkpoint after U.S. Border Patrol agents discovered 33 pounds of methamphetamine hidden in his car.
Border Patrol spokeswoman Mary Beth Caston says a police dog alerted agents to the drugs inside a 2007 Dodge Caliber at the stop near San Clemente Thursday evening.
Agents pulled a total of 23 bags from the left "rocker panel" area of the car.
It's worth an estimated $300,000.
The suspect, described only as a 24-year-old man, was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
