The man hit by an Amtrak passenger train in Pismo Beach Tuesday afternoon has been identified as Mark Manuele, 22, from Pismo Beach.
Pismo Beach Police say Manuele was riding his bike down the tracks near Highway 101 and Five Cities Drive around 4:30 p.m. and did not hear the train until the last minute.
Police say they believe he has non-life threatening injuries, but they do not know if the train hit Manuele's bike, throwing him off of it, causing his injuries, or if Manuele made contact with the train directly.
The investigation has been turned over to Union Pacific.
Hospital officials say Manuele is no longer a patient there.
