Police identify suspect involved in recent officer-involved shooting in Santa Barbara

Police have identified the man they say was involved in an officer-involved shooting last week in Santa Barbara as Andrew Scott Furst, 26, from Santa Barbara.

Friday, Dec. 6 at 11:26 p.m., officers with the Santa Barbara Police Department responded to the 1200 block of San Andres St. after several people called 911 saying someone had a deadly weapon in a home there.

After officers arrived, they say Furst assaulted one of the officers with the weapon, a large and thick shard of glass, which resulted in a shooting.

Police say Furst is being hospitalized for multiple gunshot wounds. The officer was not hurt.

The incident is still under investigation.
