A parent of a student at Arroyo Grande High School says at least six kids have received threats on their cell phones. The Arroyo Grande Police Department is investigating the threats, which they say do not target a specific race or gender.

According to the parent, the phone calls have included death threats to students and their parents.

Officers say similar events have been reported in other parts of the country in the last two weeks. Police say it appears the victims' phone numbers may have been taken from social networking websites. Officers warn people to be careful about what personal information you post online.
