VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) - Police are looking for a missing man as they continue their investigation into a series of bizarre events involving the killing of at least four people.

Efren Valdemoro was shot and killed by California Highway Patrol officers when they say he refused to drop a meat cleaver at the end of high-speed chase Tuesday night.

After the shooting, officers found the body of Valdemoro's girlfriend, 46-year-old Cindy Tran, in passenger seat of the car.

Police say she had suffered severe head and neck injuries.

The 38-year-old Valdemoro is also suspected of killing 63-year-old Segundina Allen and her friend, 60-year-old Marcaria Smart, as well a 73-year-old Ricardo Sales.

Still missing is 35-year-old Frederick Sales, the son of Ricardo. The younger Sales has not been seen since before his father's body was found Saturday afternoon.
