Police are increasing their patrols during the holiday season and adding DUI checkpoints all along the Central Coast.
Santa Maria police held two check points Saturday night. One was on the 200 block of South Broadway and the other was on the 700 block of North Blosser Road.
955 vehicles passed through the two check points and 715 of them were screened.
Five drivers were evaluated for DUI and three were arrested.
One person who was arrested had a four-year-old child in the car and was also charged with felony child endangerment and taken to jail.
Nine drivers were cited for driving without a license.
