The Santa Maria Police Department is looking for a man who tried to kidnap a girl in Santa Maria Tuesday night.
It happened around 7:22 p.m. in the 300 block of West Park Street.
Officers say the victim from Santa Maria was walking on West Park Street when a man in a large white van got out and tried to drag her inside as she was walking past it.
After a struggle, the victim was able to get away and run for help.
The attempted kidnapper left the area before police arrived.
He is described as a Hispanic male between 40 and 50-years-old, 5'5'' and about 230 pounds.
They say he is clean shaven, has short black hair and was wearing a white tank top.
