VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say 26-year-old man was shot by police after allegedly driving recklessly and injuring an officer outside the Ventura County Fair.
The Ventura County Star reports the suspect, who has not been identified, is in critical condition on Monday.
Police say the man was seen driving recklessly in a pickup, trying to pass barricades near the fair entrance on Sunday. After the driver struck an officer, police fired on him as he accelerated and hit parked police motorcycles and an empty shuttle bus.
The suspect was shot in the upper body.
The officer was treated at a hospital. Police say his injuries aren't life-threatening.
Police say a beer can was found inside the driver's truck, but It's unclear whether he had been drinking.
