Police: Teenage bicyclist hit by car driven by unlicensed driver

A 15-year-old bicyclist was struck by a car shortly before 8 a.m. Monday in Santa Maria.

The teen received head injuries from the collision which happened in the 600-block of Oakley Street. Police have not released his name.

He was transported by helicopter to Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara. Police said they were not aware of the extent of his injuries.

Police also said the 20-year-old Santa Maria woman driving the car, Jessica Arteaga, was unlicensed and had a juvenile passenger in her vehicle.

The cause of the collision is under invetsigation by the SMPD's Traffic Bureau.
