The Lucia Mar Unified School District votes to start sending out preliminary pink slips beginning March 15th.
During a meeting Tuesday night, the board decided that more than 70 potential layoff notices need to be handed out. The cash-strapped district is short five million dollars.
Last year, more than 200 notices went out in the initial notice round. But in the end, only 90 people ended up losing their jobs. Thirty of those were eventually reinstated.
