Fire crews are currently staged throughout Atascadero, after a blown transformer near Highway 41 and El Camino caused several small fires in businesses around the area, according to the fire department.

The transformer blew a little after 6 a.m., and caused several air conditioning units to seize up and burn, which resulted in the fires.

Additionally, approximately 1,900 homes and businesses in Atascadero were without power from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., according to a spokesperson for PG&E.

Atascadero City Hall was among the buildings without power.

A downed power line on the 700 block of Mira Flores cause the outages. Power has since been restored to the majority of the customers.
