Cal Fire say the Pozo Fire has burned more than 1,500 acres and it is now at 5 percent containment. Firefighters thought the fire had grown to more than 2,500 acres, but that turned out to be a miscalculation.
The fire sparked around 12:30 p.m. in the area of East Pozo Road and Park Hill Road.
Several campground areas have been evacauated as a precaution, including Turkey Flat, Navajo Flat, Frias and La Panza. Several roads have also been closed, they include Navajo Road at Pozo Road, Navajo Flats Road west of the OHV and campground area, and Pozo Road at Red Hill.
Fire Crews will remain on scene through the night, still no word on a cause.
